High School RTI:

Response to Intervention in Reading and Math

Mrs. McConnell and Mr. Mix

~Grade 9 and Grade 10 are eligible for RTI.

~All students in Grade 9 and 10 are assessed 3x yearly with MAP testing for Reading and

Math.

Students that qualify are pulled from PE, quarterly classes, and Study hall

2-4 times per week for Reading/ Math interventions.

During Math RTI, students

work on Math skills/ reinforce daily concepts learned in Math classes.

During

Reading RTI, students work on fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary skills

through ReadTheory.org, Scholastic Action/Scope magazines, novel units, and

some push- in help.

All IEP and RTI students are progress monitored monthly via Math MAP

Screening and Star Reading.

A student is placed in RTI if:

~ scored below cut- off scores

~ ”on watch” score recommended by a teacher

~ low scoring students not placed in RTI are progress monitored
