The National Honor Society is sponsoring a blood drive here in the Erie High School gym from 1:30 - 5:30 on Sept. 4. Appointments are being scheduled and Mrs. Proeger, advisor, would love to have you consider giving a donation. She can be reached at the school M-F at 309-659-2239 option 5 for the high school and extension 1416. After school she can be reached at 815-537-5735. Please leave a message and she will return your call. Walk-ins are welcome after 2:30 p.m.
For each pint collected, three lives are saved. Apparently, one out of every seven people entering the hospital need blood. If those aren't good enough reasons to donate, I have two more.... 1) every donor will receive a t-shirt and 2) NHS does the leg work in calling donors, advertising, and working the event. For that we are placed in a position to "Pay Funds Forward" to another non-profit organization. Our June drive paid our local food pantry $289. This drive will help "Feed Our Starving Children program" by providing funds for meals. If we meet or exceed our goal, we earn $250 plus one dollar for every donor. Can you be a part of this program on Sept. 4? We have appointments available and will have double red blood cell machines available as well. Please contact Mrs. Proeger with a preferred time and let's see if we can work together to help save other lives.
The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has been chosen by virtually every hospital around us as their preferred blood provider. This includes the hospitals in Morrison, Sterling, Clinton, Geneseo, and all the Genesis, Unity Point, OSF Healthcare campuses and centers in Silvis, Moline, Rock Island, Aledo, Galesburg, Muscatine. They also offer reciprocal sharing with seven surrounding states. The National Honor Society is pleased to have partnered successfully for three years in providing blood to those in need through the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center.
